Cybersecurity Professional - Part-time

This job posting is for a part-time, temporary Information Security Administrator position at the University of Antwerp's Center for Molecular Neurology.

The role involves various responsibilities, including system administration (Linux server), scripting and automation tool usage (bash, Ansible, Python), maintenance and monitoring of log management systems, handling security alerts, enforcing security policies, performing internal security audits, reporting security incidents, and contributing to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

• System Administration: Ensure the smooth operation of Linux servers (AlmaLinux, Proxmox, Debian) and implement necessary configurations.
• Scripting and Automation: Utilize tools like bash, Ansible, and Python to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
• Log Management: Maintain and monitor log management systems to detect potential security threats.
• Security Alerts: Handle and respond to security alerts in a timely manner.
• Policy Enforcement: Implement and support security policies and best practices within the organization.
• Audits and Compliance: Perform regular internal security audits and follow up on findings to ensure compliance.
• Incident Reporting: Report security incidents and collaborate with the team to develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Disaster Recovery: Contribute to the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or equivalent experience.
• Analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Eager to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Strong preference for working independently but also collaboratively as part of a small team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on quality and integrity.
• Passion for open-source software and ethical hacking principles.
• Experience in academic settings is highly valued.
