Visual Basic Developer

Exciting freelance opportunity with a leading energy infrastructure partner! We're looking for an experienced VBA Developer to contribute to a high-impact project in the energy sector.

Logistics:

• Position: Freelance VBA Developer
• Duration: 12-Month Contract (strong likelihood of extension)
• Location: Brussels (Hybrid – 1 day a week in the office)
• Languages: English AND Dutch or French
• Start Date: ASAP
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)

Core Responsibilities:

• Support the “Limit Management” project by developing an Access application to calculate and integrate flow limits for high-voltage connections.
• Work closely with the project team to translate business and functional requirements into application development.
• Ensure data quality and accurate calculation of limits to be integrated across multiple platforms.
• Collaborate with other developers and project stakeholders to maintain a high standard of code and performance.
• Conduct unit and acceptance testing and provide support during the delivery phase.
• Actively participate in a sustainable, green energy infrastructure project that contributes to the future of Belgium’s energy network.

Essential Skills:

• Strong experience in VBA, Access, and SQL.
• Proven ability to translate business and functional requirements into practical application solutions.
• Deep understanding of data quality and its importance in energy-related projects.
• Familiarity with project management principles, reporting to project leads, and delivering solutions on time.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with colleagues in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with unit and acceptance testing.
• Ability to adapt quickly and maintain a critical approach while respecting established development processes.

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of energy sector-specific systems or projects.
• Familiarity with the “Limit Management” concept or similar applications in transmission network management.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Understanding of integrating applications across various business platforms.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Experience in sustainability-driven projects.
