🛠️ Mechanical/Electromechanical Design Engineer (Aerospace Industry)

📍 Charleroi, Belgium | 🕒 Full-time | 🌍 Hybrid possible with travel to Leuven

Industry: Aerospace & Defense

Seniority Level: Mid-level (3–5 years experience)

About the Role

Join a leading player in the space systems sector, where you'll help design and validate high-performance mechanical packaging solutions for advanced electronic equipment used in satellites and space missions.

You’ll work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary engineering team that bridges the gap between mechanical design and electronic functionality—ensuring optimal performance under extreme thermal and vibrational constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design physical solutions (equipment packaging) that meet internal and external specifications including size, mass, vibration, thermal, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Lead mechanical and thermal validations of designs.
  • Conduct detailed analyses and sizing of equipment based on environmental constraints.
  • Define modular breakdowns of equipment and follow up on technical development.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams, test teams, and project managers to ensure smooth product development.
  • Support recurring product adaptations, anomaly handling, and obsolescence management.
  • Review and validate environmental test reports.

Your Profile

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering (Industrial or Civil).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience minimum, including at least one relevant project related to the responsibilities listed above.
  • Solid grasp of thermal and vibration physics.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 (or equivalent CAD software).
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools like Ansys for mechanical and thermal simulation.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and component-level design.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, design-for-manufacturing principles, and industrial constraints.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, team spirit, and leadership in transversal activities.
  • Comfortable with technical English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Leuven.

What’s In It For You

  • The chance to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects with real-world impact.
  • Collaborate with experts in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Shape products from concept through validation and support.
