External Relations Executive

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Develop Embraer’s political and institutional interests related to Brussels-based institutions, by interfacing with relevant bodies in support to Embraer’s Business Units such as Defense and Security, and Commercial Aviation.

The function will be focused on the different areas of public policy, including the Defense and Security markets and policies, Air Transport policies – including Energy and Environmental-related -, and R&D. Beyond interfaces with the European Commission, priorities include relations with the European Parliament, European Council, NATO, and other of relevance, on specific topics and actions to be taken in Brussels and in other capitals.

Based in Brussels, the main goal is to follow diplomatic and geopolitical developments with relevance to the company, as well as legislation. Such work is also supported by the interface with industry associations working in Brussels.

Activity will be linked with the institutional work carried out in European locations where Embraer is established. Depending on topics, this may include interface with the diplomatic representations of these countries in Brussels.

The work will be integrated and aligned with the Brasilia Office, where the Director of Institutional Relations coordinates the institutional activity of Embraer at the Global level.

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop institutional interfaces with relevant stakeholders in Brussels, maximizing the company’s reputation, and the information about its activity Globally and in Europe.
• Support the institutional activity of the External Relations Manager – European and Central Asia responsible for Embraer operations in the region, in full alignment with Embraer’s office in Brasilia.
• Provide support to company functional areas in achieving their results where political action and engagement are needed.
• Interface and contribute to Brussels-related actions and projects carried out by external parties as consultants and other business partners.
• Develop institutional interfaces on a regular basis with Representations in Brussels of European and NATO member-states where Embraer has business interests.
• Maintain regular contact with representatives of the Brazilian Government and representatives of bodies defending business interests of the Brazilian companies.
• Participate in various business associations and initiatives that are important to the company’s business, and needed to advance its interests.
• Advise Embraer’s management on political actions and/or initiatives that impact the company, and how it should respond to specific threats and opportunities.
• Keep Embraer management inform on the most relevant developments in the political and institutional landscape in Brussels and relevant member-states.
• Maintains a process that allows: i) early warnings on policy decisions that impact Embraer; ii) analysis of such impact; iii) definition and implementation of proactive measures.
• Ensure employment law, work security/safety rules, and company policy and procedures comply.
• Monitor NATO and EU legislation that may impact Embraer’s interests
• Support all areas of the company based on specific requests related to Brussels-based stakeholders.

PROFILE OF THE SUITABLE CANDIDATE

• Msc. in Public Policies or equivalent.
• At least five years working on NATO and EU-related policies – in Brussels or from a Member-State
• Eligible to live and work in the EU.
• Understand the institutional dynamics in Brussels, and between Brussels and EU and NATO member-states.
• Excellent communication and negotiation techniques
• Must be able to multi-task on many issues with the various business units at the same time
• Ability to follow company policies and procedures and have very high ethical standards
• Fluent in English & Portuguese is mandatory, ability to speak French, Spanish or any other European language is of great advantage.
