VP, Regional Director, Content Protection, EMEA


Summary

The Vice President, Regional Director, Content Protection, EMEA (the “VP”) is primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing the global/regional online enforcement strategy, managing and coordinating complex digital investigations, and identifying trends, including technological developments and user behaviors on piracy issues. The ideal candidate will have the ability to distill key trends and data points that inform an internet strategy to protect the entertainment industry’s online business initiatives, and successfully implement the enforcement strategy in close coordination with the global team and regional stakeholders.


The VP reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief of Global Content Protection (the “EVP”), based in MPA’s Washington, D.C., Office.


The VP would be based in Belgium. Suitable candidates would be offered a relocation package.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and implement strategies to tackle the distribution of illegal content across multiple jurisdictions in the EMEA region in close coordination with the global content protection team and various EMEA departments.
  • Manage complex internet investigations around the globe and supervise a team of internal and external investigators.
  • Supervise, steer, and improve work related to forensic analysis of online content and the technical infrastructure of online platforms, sites, and specific devices.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with regional and local law enforcement organizations.
  • Build and maintain relations with in-country, regional, and international enforcement authorities.
  • Present, both orally and in writing, clear, well-reasoned, and comprehensive reports to stakeholders at MPA/ACE and MPA/ACE members.
  • Identify global trends defining how internet users consume audiovisual content online and shifts in the piracy landscape and ecosystem.
  • Monitor and report on trends in internet content distribution methods and consumer electronics that may impact audiovisual content delivery.
  • Be knowledgeable in computer forensics and serve as a witness in technical criminal and civil cases.
  • Generate, manipulate, and analyze large datasets comprising internally generated information and third-party data.
  • Coordinate and guide country programs and consultants across EMEA.
  • Work with the Regional President, Finance, and the global EVP to build and manage the regional operational budget.
  • Support ACE’s regional and global expansion by recruiting, building relationships, and preserving member satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Integrity and Confidentiality: Must possess the highest level of work ethics and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • IP Enforcement Experience: Experience in intellectual property enforcement is required, preferably in content protection and/or anti-piracy.
  • Strategic Planning and Global Coordination: Proven experience in strategic planning and global strategy development, with strong coordination skills across complex international projects.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Legal and Technical Interface: Capable of bridging legal enforcement strategies and technical solutions.
  • Internet Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of ISPs, domain names, IP addresses, hosting providers, and DNS.
  • Forensic and Investigative Analysis: Skilled in forensic analysis of online content/infrastructure and OSINT.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Proficiency in handling large datasets and analytics tools to monitor piracy.
  • Internet Navigation and Content Distribution: Strong knowledge of streaming, P2P, IPTV, and digital piracy trends.
  • Communication and Reporting: Strong written and oral communication skills, especially in technical and business reporting.
  • Problem Solving and Independence: Self-motivated, creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Must comply with the new Act on Private Investigations of 18 May 2024 (Belgium); training and certification will be provided if needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a trade association
  • Background in law enforcement
  • Education or experience in IP, media, or criminal law
  • Knowledge of one or more European languages
