Junior EU Project Officer & Communications

European Plastics Converters (EuPC) is the leading EU-level trade association, based in Brussels (Belgium), representing the interests of the European plastics converting industry. Plastics converters use plastics raw materials and recycled polymers to manufacture new products. EuPC gathers 45 national associations and European plastics sector associations and represents more than 50,000 companies, producing over 50 million tons of plastic products every year.

 

The European plastics industry makes a significant contribution to the economy in Europe by enabling innovation, creating a quality of life for the citizens, and facilitating resource efficiency and climate protection. More than 1.6 million people are working in the EU converting companies (mainly SMEs), creating an annual turnover of €260 billion.


Position


EuPC is looking for a Junior EU Project Officer & Communications to join our team in Brussels, Belgium.

The Officer will support EuPC’s activities on public affairs and communication efforts as well as EU-funded projects (primarily Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe initiatives).


Tasks


  • Project Support: Support EuPC’s involvement in EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, Erasmus+) in cooperation with universities, R&D centres, and industry partners; manage deliverables and timelines.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Monitor and report on the progress of EU projects to senior management; prepare surveys, analyse results, and draft summary reports.
  • Communication & Outreach: Draft newsletters, social media content (e.g., LinkedIn), and website updates to communicate project results and EuPC initiatives to internal and external audiences.
  • Event Planning & Stakeholder Engagement: Organize and support events, webinars, and workshops in line with the EU-funded projects tasks; overall outreach to increase EuPC visibility within the industry and towards policymakers.
  • Public Affairs & Policy Monitoring: Assist in monitoring EU policy developments relevant to the plastics converting industry, support advocacy activities, and participate in public events representing EuPC. 


Qualifications and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, International Relations, European Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as EU Project Officer/Assistant (preferably within a trade association, consultancy, NGO, or similar environment); knowledge of Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, or Horizon Europe programs is a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and content creation skills.
  • Familiarity with EU institutions, policy processes, and advocacy activities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of design tools (InDesign, Canva) and website management (Wix, WordPress) is a plus.
  • Based in Brussels, or willing to relocate to Brussels.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); knowledge of other languages is an asset.
