About the role

We are building a new Defense & Dual-Use practice within MEU Consulting, a leading European innovation funding advisory firm.

Our mission is to help Europe’s most promising defense and dual-use deeptech startups access non-dilutive and strategic funding opportunities, including the EIC Accelerator, STEP Scale Up, EIB and related European instruments.

We are looking for a highly curious, structured and ambitious Junior Defense & Dual-Use Analyst to help us identify the most promising European startups, scale-ups, investors, experts and funding opportunities, and to qualify them for EU funding programs, before they become obvious to the market.

This is not a passive research role. You will help build a strategic intelligence engine for Europe’s defense and dual-use ecosystem.

Your mission

Your role will be to find and qualify the best opportunities in the European defense and dual-use market.

You will identify:

●Promising proven and presumed defense and dual-use deeptech startups;

●relevant VCs, accelerators, clusters and institutions;

●upcoming calls, funding opportunities and ecosystem signals;

●technical experts who could support high-quality funding applications;

●events where we should identify and approach high-potential companies.

You will also:

●score companies based on technology, funding fit, maturity, traction and strategic relevance;

●prepare short company profiles and opportunity briefs;

●maintain and enrich our internal startup and ecosystem database;

●Perform prequalification calls with the defense and dual-use partner.

What we are looking for

You may be a strong fit if you have:

●Excellent academic background in economics, business, finance, engineering or sciences.

●0–3 years of experience in business intelligence, venture capital scouting, deeptech or innovation consulting, startups or EU affairs;

●excellent written English;

●strong analytical and research skills;

●genuine interest in defense, dual-use, deeptech, European sovereignty and startups;

●ability to quickly understand new technologies and markets;

●strong attention to detail;

●good judgment: you know how to distinguish an interesting company from a commercially relevant opportunity;

●discipline with databases, CRM tools and structured reporting;

●Agency, curiosity and ambition.

You do not need to be a defense expert already. But you need to be excited about becoming very good in this niche.
