Installation and Hardware Lead


At PolyPerception, our mission is to increase recycling rates through real-time data and insights. We do this by installing analyzers in waste recycling facilities across the world. These devices use deep learning and computer vision to read what's on the conveyor belt in real time. We're a small, fast-growing team backed by TOMRA, a global leader in sensor-based sorting.



The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

The product

The analyzer is a hardware module installed above conveyor belts that transport waste. It comprises a camera sensor, lens, LED lights, an electrical cabinet, an edge device, and aluminium profiles.


Workshop and office

Our office and workshop are in Borgerhout, Antwerp - walking distance from Antwerpen-Berchem station.


Travel

You'll travel to customer sites across Europe roughly 12–15 times per year, with each trip lasting two to four days. Travel and accommodation are fully covered. You'll travel with colleagues for larger installations, and independently for smaller ones.


What you'll do

  • Own and run our installation workflow end to end
  • Carry out installations at customer sites
  • Prepare components: electrical cabinets, cameras, edge devices, aluminium profiles, and more
  • Manage workshop inventory and order parts from suppliers
  • Coordinate with customers on installation requirements and planning
  • Prepare customer shipments
  • Mentor and work alongside our interns (we typically host two long-term interns per year)


Who you are

  • Excited to work at a small startup and take on real ownership
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical cabinets, camera sensors, lenses, edge devices, network switches, and PSUs
  • Comfortable with electrical components and basic networking
  • Genuinely happy to learn on the job
  • Highly organized in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong people skills — you'll work closely with xjnbdxs colleagues, vendors, and customers
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • A valid category B driving licence
  • BA5 and VCA are a plus (we'll provide the training if you don't have them)
  • Eligible to work in Belgium, and to travel to the EEA+UK
