Business Controller

SourceMonks is recruiting on behalf of Q8 for a Business Controller to join its Benelux retail organisation in Antwerp.

Q8 is evolving rapidly. While the company continues to build on its strong retail foundation, it is also investing heavily in the future of energy. Including renewable energy solutions and electromobility. In that transformation, finance plays a critical role.

For Q8, SourceMonks is looking for a seasoned Business Controller who can operate at the centre of the business, translate financial performance into clear direction, and actively challenge stakeholders to improve results.

This is not a role focused on reporting alone. It is a role for someone who understands the numbers behind the business, takes ownership of the full P&L, and helps shape better decisions across a complex and commercially driven environment.

The role

The Business Controller will act as a key financial sparring partner for the business and support performance steering across the Benelux retail organisation. The position combines financial reporting, business controlling, investment analysis and stakeholder management at senior level.

The scope is broad and highly visible. From monthly closings and quarterly forecasts to margin analysis, CAPEX decisions and long-term business planning, this person will play an essential role in helping Q8 drive sustainable and profitable growth.

The Business Controller will work closely with local management, a Business Analyst, and a wider finance team based in Antwerp. The role requires someone who can move easily between strategic discussion and operational detail. Someone who sees the helicopter view, but is equally comfortable diving into the numbers when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Own and steer the full financial performance cycle, including monthly closings, budgeting and forecasting
• Take full responsibility for the P&L, covering margins, shop revenues, OPEX, CAPEX and new business streams
• Deliver clear and reliable management reporting, providing actionable insights to stakeholders
• Analyse performance versus budget and prior periods, identifying risks and opportunities
• Lead quarterly forecasting processes and contribute to long-term business planning (including 5-year plans)
• Translate financial data into concrete recommendations that drive performance and profitability
• Support and guide Business Analysts while maintaining the overall helicopter view
• Act as a critical sparring partner to senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions and influencing decision-making
• Contribute to strategic initiatives such as investments, cost optimisation and business model changes
• Perform and validate investment analyses (e.g. discounted cash flow, working capital optimisation, ROI)

Candidate profile

SourceMonks is looking for a candidate with a strong background in Business Controlling, ideally gained in a corporate environment with commercial complexity.Relevant sector experience could include retail, oil & gas, chemicals, pharma or other large-scale corporate businesses.

• A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration
• Approximately 7–15 years of experience in Business Controlling
• Proven experience with full P&L ownership, including OPEX and CAPEX
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA and Power BI
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus
