We are working with an innovative biotech startup based in Lokeren that is looking to hire a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join their growing technical team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of biotechnology, Machine Learning and AI, and software engineering, helping transform complex client data into scalable machine learning solutions that directly power cutting-edge software products.

You will collaborate closely with a small, highly skilled team with expertise across software development, Python engineering, and artificial intelligence.

The Role

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing machine learning pipelines that convert client data into meaningful, production-ready outputs. You will be responsible for building robust data workflows, training models, and helping integrate intelligent systems into customer-facing products.

This role requires both strong technical capability and excellent communication skills, as you will work closely with both technical colleagues and external stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective ML solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable machine learning pipelines
• Translate complex client datasets into actionable machine learning workflows
• Develop and maintain data extraction, transformation, and pre-processing systems
• Train, evaluate, and optimise machine learning models
• Work with Python-based AI and software systems in a collaborative engineering environment
• Support the integration of ML models into production software products
• Collaborate with software engineers and technical stakeholders across projects
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Skills & Experience

• Experience with Python
• Experience building machine learning models and production pipelines
• Hands-on experience with either PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Knowledge of data extraction, cleaning, and transformation processes
• Understanding of ML lifecycle management and deployment practices
• Ability to work independently within a small, agile team
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Passion for AI, machine learning, and innovative technology

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with scientific, healthcare, or biotech data
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure or MLOps practices
• Exposure to software product development environments
