As our new Production Engineering Lead in Leuven, you will guide a talented team of 5 engineers, championing Lean Manufacturing principles and driving automation projects to transform high-tech mechanical assembly into a beacon of efficiency and quality.

As our Production Engineering Lead, you will be the driving force behind optimizing our advanced manufacturing processes. In this full-time role based at our Xeryon HQ in Leuven, you will directly manage and inspire a close-knit team of currently 5 Production Engineers. Your ultimate objective is to foster a culture of continuous improvement across our specialized production lines. You will transition advanced mechanical assembly workflows into highly efficient, scalable, and top-tier quality operations.

From troubleshooting real-time bottlenecks to managing high-impact automation projects, your leadership will directly shape our global output. By bridging technical expertise with strategic execution, you ensure our cutting-edge positioning systems meet global demand flawlessly.

In this vital leadership position, you will take ownership of the following key responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Coach, motivate, and guide your team of engineers, managing task allocation, deadlines, and their overall professional growth.
  • Process Optimization & Lean: Identify production bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and drastically reduce lead times.
  • Automation Projects: Lead strategic projects to automate manual steps within our mechanical assembly lines wherever it adds clear qualitative and strategic value.
  • Quality Problem Solving: Deep-dive into technical issues alongside your team using structured methodologies like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to deliver long-term, structural quality solutions.
  • Project Management: Oversee continuous improvement projects from A to Z, strictly monitoring budgets, timelines, and reporting progress directly to management.

What You Bring

To thrive in this environment, you need to be an entrepreneurial and pragmatic leader who effortlessly translates theoretical engineering models into practical shop-floor success. Your strong affinity for precision mechanics will give you the energy required to bring structure to highly complex, high-tech production environments. Additionally, your excellent communication skills in both English (our company language) and Dutch will allow you to collaborate seamlessly across diverse engineering and management teams.

To be successful in this selection, you must meet the following hard criteria:

  • A relevant technical Bachelor or Master degree combined with several years of proven industrial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating, or coaching a technical engineering team (or you are completely ready for this next step).
  • In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical assembly and advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Fluency in Lean methodologies, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving tools like 8D, Fishbone, or 5 Whys.
  • A proven track record in project management and successfully implementing complex process changes.
