Freelance Accountant

Freelance Accountant – Antwerp (Client Assignment)

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Accountant to support a client based in Antwerp. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with management and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with Belgian accounting regulations
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and payroll providers
• Monitor cash flow and provide financial insights to management
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls where needed

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Accountant or Freelance Accountant
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting and VAT regulations
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
• Excellent Excel skills
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities
• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
