Position Summary:

As a Senior Manager of AI Policy, you will work on policy and regulatory developments related to Artificial Intelligence in Europe. As a Senior Policy Manager, you will be a dynamic public policy professional with an excellent understanding of the EU policy context (including but not limited to tech), and deep understanding of the key policy issues affecting the tech industry at both EU and national levels, particularly with regard to Artificial Intelligence. You will coordinate with the rest of the EU team and others on direct policy advocacy with EU officials and other stakeholders, and contribute to the supervision of an EU Policy Fellow.

You are a recognized expert with demonstrated work experience in EU AI policy (including work exposure to the EU AI Act), and will contribute to ITI’s Europe work by leading on the planning, organization and execution of all programs and activities within your portfolio, such as weekly communications activities, meeting preparation and execution, representing ITI in external engagements, and planning and coordinating relations with stakeholders and policymakers, in cooperation with the rest of the EU team and other global teams.

You are a self-starter, a creative thinker and collaborative colleague who is able to work with a wide degree of autonomy and, consistent with the companies we represent, seeks positive and innovative ways to achieve both the industry’s policy objectives and governments’ public policy goals. You will work closely with ITI’s global teams.


Your responsibilities:

  • Drafting policy positions, submissions, internal briefings on policy issues within your portfolio, and support the global policy team on the same set of issues in other regions as needed;
  • Monitoring and anticipating relevant policy and regulatory developments in Brussels, and EU Member States to a lesser degree, and conducting legislative research and analysis of issues that impact members;
  • Presenting ITI’s views in external-facing meetings with policymakers and at events; 
  • Communicating regularly and in a clear and concise manner with ITI and its members regarding the significance of such developments;
  • Coordinate the preparation of ITI Europe internal and external weekly and monthly updates in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Contribute to the work of ITI’s EU Policy Committee, including scheduling meetings, participation, meeting space and logistics, meeting operations including read-ahead materials, meeting notes and action items. 
  • Providing meeting support for internal and external events, including meeting promotion, assisting in speaker identification, recruitment, confirmation and follow up, and meeting logistics and operations.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Vice-President of Policy for Europe, developing strategic and tactical approaches to policy and regulatory issues in the EU; and providing regional and policy subject area support and travel as needed.
  • Identifying, developing and implementing ways to improve ITI Europe’s processes and providing general support as needed.
  • Working closely with both ITI’s SVP and the other team members in the EU office, and with colleagues globally, supervising the activities of an EU Fellow, and acting as a resource for information and engagement for our member companies in Europe.

 

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in public administration, public policy, political science, law, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience, at least in part with Artificial Intelligence, and other relevant policy issues, and in public policy in Europe, including with respect to the EU institutions and Member State governments.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and another European language; knowledge of either (or both) German or French.
  • Good knowledge of EU public policy issues, ability to work independently and collaboratively and to engage team members to facilitate successful results.
