Role Overview
As a Business Controller of the Freight business at our company, you will act as a key financial partner to operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting while driving performance insights across a fast-paced logistics environment.
You will analyze financial and operational data, such as volumes, FTEs and cost structures, and translate this into clear recommendations for operational teams and senior management.
This role combines a strong analytical mindset and advanced technical skills with strong business partnering capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and explain monthly financial results, including variances versus budget and prior months.
- Develop, track, and validate key performance indicators, ensuring alignment between financial and operational data such as volumes, productivity and FTEs.
- Lead the preparation of detailed budgets and forecasts, aligned with business strategy and operational realities.
- Partner closely with depot, transport and operations managers to review performance and challenge results.
- Translate financial analyses into actionable insights and propose corrective actions to management.
- Prepare and deliver periodic reporting to the Group, including volumes, headcount/FTEs and financials.
- Perform ad hoc analyses on business performance and support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Actively contribute to cross-functional and improvement projects.
- Continuously improve and optimize controlling processes, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and data quality.
Skills & Competencies
Languages
- Professional proficiency in Dutch, French and English.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling and data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with BI tools, preferably QlikSense, including the ability to design, build and maintain dashboards and reports.
- Strong data analysis, data visualization and data integrity skills.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.

Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Applied Economics, Business Engineering, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in controlling, financial analysis or a similar role.
- Experience in logistics, transport or another volume-driven operational environment is an asset.
