CFO - Tech

Our client is a Ghent-based B2B SaaS scale-up building the platform that financial institutions use to manage counterparty risk. Leading banks, insurers and wealth managers across Europe rely on this platform to orchestrate the full lifecycle of KYC, AML and regulatory workflows, turning what used to be a three-week onboarding into a one-day process. The platform sits at the intersection of RegTech, digital trust and digital identity, in a regulatory landscape (AML, Data Act, AI Act) that keeps getting more demanding — and more interesting.

While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.

Founded in 2016 and well-funded for its next growth phase, the company is set to accelerate from current ARR levels toward a multiple of that within three years. It operates across seven countries, serves 70 financial institutions, and recently expanded its footprint in France to deepen its position in a market where local presence matters. Internally, the organisation just successfully transitioned from founder-led sales to a structured commercial organisation, with Q1 2026 confirming the next growth phase is well underway.

You'll join the leadership team alongside the CEO, COO, CRO and CTO, taking ownership of a finance function that has solid foundations but is ready for its next chapter. The team currently runs on Odoo (BE and FR), with first reporting steps in Power BI, supported by external accounting partners in Belgium and France. An interim CFO is currently in place to ensure continuity until you arrive.

Your responsibilities

  • Own financial strategy, FP&A, treasury, controlling and reporting toward the CEO and board
  • Build and scale the finance team in an international (BE/FR) context, starting hands-on and growing the organisation around you
  • Act as strategic sparring partner to the CEO on M&A — the company needs to be ready to seize consolidation opportunities in its market
  • Lead investor relations together with the CEO, including board reporting and strategic finance preparation
  • Own the SaaS KPI framework: ARR, NRR, GRR, gross margin, Rule of 40, magic number, CAC payback — both reporting and steering
  • Drive business partnering across Sales, Product and Operations so financial insights actually move decisions
  • Ensure financial controls and governance meet what enterprise clients (banks, insurers, wealth managers) expect during vendor due diligence — aligned with ISO 27001 / SOC 2 standards
  • Manage relationships with accounting firms, statutory auditor and banking partners
  • Stay operational where needed: monthly close, cash flow forecasting, budget vs. forecast, audits

What you bring

  • 10+ years of finance experience, with a foundation in audit at a Big 4 or comparable firm (3+ years at the same employer)
  • Proven exposure to B2B SaaS, either operationally or through audit/advisory work, and fluency in the metrics that matter (ARR, NRR, Rule of 40, deferred revenue, ASC 606 / IFRS 15)
  • Experience with international entities, ideally BE and FR
  • Strong technical foundation in Belgian GAAP and IFRS; working knowledge of French statutory and social reporting (local accountants support you)
  • Three-statement modelling and scenario analysis from scratch, you can build it, not just review it
  • Comfort working between finance stack and BI tools (Odoo, Power BI or equivalents)
  • Cloud-to-dust capability: presenting a xqknzec board pack one day, running the month-end close the next, without ego about either
  • Builder mindset: comfortable starting without a finance team underneath you, energised by building it
  • Commercial antenna: partner to CEO and CRO, not a scorekeeper
  • Genuine interest in leveraging AI to automate and improve finance processes
  • Fluent in English; French or Dutch is a strong plus
  • Nice to have: prior involvement in fundraising or M&A, ESOP / warrant plan design experience

What you can expect

  • A strategic CFO seat in a scale-up at the most interesting inflection point: foundations in place, growth accelerating, market consolidating
  • Competitive salary package aligned with the seniority of the role
  • Equity participation and performance bonus on top
  • Contractor setup (payroll possible if preferred)
  • Hybrid working from the Ghent office, with Tuesday and Thursday as fixed in-office days
  • A leadership team that's rigorous, customer-focused and free of politics
  • Direct reporting line to the CEO and active engagement with the board
