Senior BESS Engineering Manager

For our client, a fast-growing renewable energy developer, active in the development, financing, and ownership of large-scale battery energy storage projects, with a pipeline exceeding 1 GW, Green Recruitment is looking for a: Senior BESS Engineering Manager You will play a central role in the development, engineering, and construction of large-scale battery energy storage projects, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest technical standards. ~ You actively initiate, develop, and guide the engineering and execution of large battery storage projects (typically ~You lead the engineering design and coordination across multiple projects, covering electrical (BESS) as well as civil and structural aspects. ~ You define technical specifications and manage tendering processes, acting as the main technical interface with suppliers, integrators, and contractors. ~ You monitor and coordinate the work of EPC contractors, engineers, consultants, and other external partners across all project phases. ~ You ensure compliance with Belgian regulations, technical standards, and site-specific constraints, with a focus on performance, safety, and cost efficiency. ~ You coordinate internal stakeholders (development, procurement, construction, HSE) and manage communication with external stakeholders (TSO, permitting authorities, consultants, etc.). ~ You contribute to the development phase through site assessments and feasibility studies, layout optimization and basic engineering and civil design input (foundations, drainage, infrastructure) ~ You act as engineering lead during construction, including site visits, inspections, factory visits, and participation in FAT/SAT. ~ You manage project documentation, risks, quality, and reporting, while handling multiple projects simultaneously. ~ You support asset performance by contributing to battery degradation analysis, KPI monitoring, and technical performance evaluation. ~ You have the potential to grow into a Team Leader role, managing and mentoring project/engineering managers You hold a Master’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent by experience). You have at least 7 years of experience in engineering and/or construction of large energy or infrastructure projects, ideally in battery storage or renewables. BESS technologies and electrical systems Civil and structural engineering (foundations, drainage, infrastructure) You have experience managing complex projects simultaneously from a project engineering or owner’s engineer’s perspective. You are analytically strong and able to understand and optimize technical and financial parameters in complex projects. You have strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You are fluent in English and French; Dutch is a strong advantage. You are passionate about the energy transition and battery technologies.
