Creative Patternmaker

Dries Van Noten founded his eponymous brand in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1986. He is widely recognised for his distinctive approach to craft, combining refined tailoring with bold eclecticism. His signature use of print, texture, colour, and silhouette continues to define a style that exists beyond seasonal trends. Today, Dries Van Noten collections are available in stores across Europe, the United States, and Asia, as well as through a global network of wholesale partners, and online. The brand has recently expanded into beauty and fragrance, complementing its ready-to-wear and accessories collections. In December 2024, Julian Klausner was appointed Creative Director. Having worked closely with Dries since 2018, his deep understanding of the house’s identity ensures continuity while opening a new chapter for its future.

Mission

We are looking for a skilled and creatively driven Patternmaker to join our Studio team. In this role, you will play a key part in translating the creative vision of the collection into volume, silhouette, and construction. Working closely with the design team, you will contribute to the development of innovative and refined garments through draping, pattern development, fittings, and prototype creation. This position requires a strong couture sensibility, technical craftsmanship, and an instinctive understanding of proportion, movement, and garment construction.

Responsibilities

• Translate creative concepts, sketches, and draping ideas into patterns and prototypes across all RTW categories for men and women
• Work closely with the Studio and Design teams throughout the creative development process
• Develop first toiles and prototypes through draping, moulage, and flat pattern cutting techniques
• Research and explore volume, silhouette, proportions, and garment construction techniques
• Participate actively in fitting sessions and propose creative construction solutions to achieve the desired silhouette and fit
• Interpret and refine designs while respecting the creative identity of the house
• Retouch and adapt collection pieces for styling, showroom, and runway presentations
• Collaborate with ateliers and internal development teams to ensure the creative integrity of each piece
• Support the development of innovative construction techniques while balancing craftsmanship and wearability
• Work within collection timelines and support the Studio during key collection milestones and show preparations

Profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience within luxury or high fashion RTW
• Strong expertise in draping, moulage, pattern cutting, and garment construction
• Sensitive understanding of silhouette, proportions, and fabric behaviour
• Strong couture and flou knowledge with an eye for detail and finishing
• Ability to translate creative ideas into refined and wearable garments
• Experience working closely with designers and ateliers in a fast-paced creative environment
• Creative, solution-oriented, and highly collaborative mindset
• Strong sense of precision and craftsmanship
• Knowledge of Lectra is considered an advantage
• Flexible and able to work within collection deadlines
• Main language is English, Dutch is an advantage
