Corporate Accounting Expert – Leading International Company, West of Brussels

For our client, a prominent international group situated in the West of Brussels, we are searching for a Corporate Accounting Expert. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional looking to join a dynamic team within a truly international environment.

Job Description:

As a Corporate Accounting Expert, you will be responsible for maintaining sound accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

Your scope will include follow-up and reporting for leasing, housekeeping, payroll, and travel expenses, as well as tax return preparation, general ledger activities, financial reporting, year-end audit support, and assistance with budgets and forecasts. You will also support the integration of newly opened or acquired stores into existing accounting processes.

In this fast-paced environment, you will coordinate information flows across multiple departments and manage relationships with external service providers. In addition, you will support the Accounting Manager in coaching the team and ensure that work is properly allocated and completed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the daily accounting administration and follow-up of invoice and commitment cycles for leasing, housekeeping, payroll, real estate taxes, and travel expenses
  • Monitor these expenses against budget and support the preparation of budgets and management reporting
  • Review reconciliations, including accruals, prepaid accounts, suspense accounts, and payroll data in collaboration with the Payroll Manager
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including account analysis, intercompany recharges, and commentary on fluctuations
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities and prepare the required audit documentation and samples.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, real estate tax, and other tax obligations in close cooperation with the Tax department
  • Support statutory and group reporting for subsidiaries in line with IFRS and local GAAP, including annual accounts and accounting memos
  • Contribute to mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and other ad-hoc finance projects
  • Help implement and improve accounting procedures, controls, and systems, and participate in European finance projects and process improvements
  • Support the Accounting Manager in guiding the team, advising on non-routine transactions, and training team members where needed

Profile of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent through experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the Services or Retail sector and within an international context.
  • Experience in a multi-country or shared service center environment is a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP is a must-have.
  • Experience with SAP is required; SAP S/4HANA familiarity is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in French or German is a strong asset. Other European languages are valuable.
