JOA is where three worlds meet: interior architecture, industrial design and craftsmanship. We focus on flow, ergonomics and functionality, which come to life through designs tailored to our clients, their needs and their architecture. Curves are our preferred design language for our furniture – not merely decorative curves, but curves that have meaning and a real impact on spaces. The bespoke solutions we create are built to last. Beautiful materials, design details: every choice is made to bring real value to those who live in these interiors.
We are currently looking for someone to strengthen our creative team. A designer who knows how to design, but also how to persuade. Someone who enjoys drawing up a piece of furniture just as much as presenting their ideas to a client. In both French and Dutch.
What to expect ?
Your day-to-day at JOA is a blend of creativity and client relations. You’ll design bespoke furniture plans, model them in 3D, present them to clients and champion them. From the initial consultation right through to signing the contract, you’ll be the driving force behind the project.
You’ll work closely with our technical team — carpenters, designers — to ensure that what you design can be manufactured.
On the sales side, you’ll handle the follow-up from start to finish: follow-ups, adjustments, and closing deals. You’ll help turn the leads generated by our marketing team into concrete projects.
And then there’s Dutch. A growing proportion of our client base is Flemish or Dutch-speaking Brussels residents, and we want to support them in their own language, whilst maintaining the same high standard of service. This is a key growth opportunity for JOA.
Who you are ?
You have a degree in industrial design, architecture or interior architecture, and at least 5 years’ experience in interior design or furniture design. You are proficient in 3D modelling software (SketchUp, Archicad, Revit, etc.). We will provide in-house training for Top Solid, our design software.
You have a strong aesthetic sensibility. Bespoke design, premium materials and the use of curves in a space are right up your street. And you have a real flair for sales: you are comfortable in meetings, you enjoy defending your choices and guiding a client towards a decision.
Language requirements:
• Native Dutch or excellent Dutch (minimum C1 level) — essential.
• Fluent French.
• English is an advantage.
Terms and conditions
• Permanent contract — 4/5ths or full-time, to be discussed
• Salary based on experience (CP 126).
• Place of work: Brussels (showroom) and Braine-l’Alleud (workshop), and at clients’ premises.
• Remote working possible after a few months (max 1 day/week).
• Desired start date: early September 2026.
Joining JOA means...
Becoming part of a close-knit team where every project is different. Working on high-end projects, from concept to installation. And contributing to the growth of a Belgian brand that does things with purpose.
