Commissioning Manager (Client side) – Data Centre Project - Contract (18 months rolling)

A leading international engineering and project delivery consultancy is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager (Cx Lead) to support a large-scale data centre construction project in Mons, Belgium. This is a high-impact site-based role, ideal for candidates with strong commissioning experience across mission-critical environments.

The Opportunity

As Commissioning Manager, you will take ownership of commissioning strategy and execution on-site, ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.

You will lead commissioning activities across either:

• Process & Mechanical systems, or
• Electrical systems (including energisation)

This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage commissioning plans, and ensure delivery to programme, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Commissioning (Cx) Plan aligned with client strategic goals
• Lead all on-site commissioning activities, including witnessing installation and system testing
• Prepare and execute Cx protocols specific to project requirements
• Manage and coordinate energisation activities where applicable
• Act as the primary representative for the commissioning team in:
• Client meetings
• Site visits
• Audits and troubleshooting sessions
• Collaborate closely with client engineers, project managers, and stakeholders
• Ensure alignment with engineering, quality, and production requirements
• Monitor and control commissioning budgets (hours) in line with project expectations
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and client compliance standards

About You

• Proven experience as a Commissioning Lead / Manager on mission-critical or data centre projects
• Strong background in either:
• Mechanical/process commissioning, or
• Electrical commissioning (including energisation)
• Demonstrated ability to deliver commissioning activities across multiple complex projects
• Strong technical competence with a hands-on, problem-solving approach
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate across disciplines on-site
• Excellent understanding of health & safety practices and client standards
• Strong communication skills and ability to represent the commissioning function at senior level
