The mission

Our client in the banking sector is looking for a skilled Data Steward to join their team.

The Data Steward is responsible for ensuring that business-critical data — particularly risk and finance data relevant to BCBS 239 — is clearly defined, properly documented, consistently used, and effectively governed across the organization.

Working closely with Data Owners, Business stakeholders, Risk departments, and IT teams, the Data Steward contributes to embedding sustainable data governance practices, improving data quality, and supporting the bank’s overall regulatory compliance and data maturity initiatives.

The role requires strong analytical capabilities, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to operate efficiently within complex banking and regulatory environments.

Is this you ?

• Several years of experience within Banking or Financial Services environments.

Strong background in:

• Data Governance
• Data Management
• Risk Data
• Regulatory Reporting
• Reporting & Analytics

• Previous exposure to BCBS 239 or similar regulatory frameworks related to risk data aggregation and reporting is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of banking and risk data concepts.

Experience with credit risk–related domains is considered a major asset, including:

• IFRS 9 impairment
• Expected Credit Loss (ECL)
• Cost of Risk
• Provisions
• Basel capital frameworks
• Risk Weighted Assets (RWA)
• Credit risk loan tape data

Good understanding of:

• Data Ownership
• Data Stewardship
• Metadata Management
• Data Lineage
• Critical Data Elements
• Data Quality Management

Familiarity with:

• Data Governance tools
• Data Catalogs
• Lineage solutions
• BI & Reporting platforms

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Structured, detail-oriented, and capable of managing complex data and documentation topics.
• Ability to take ownership and drive initiatives autonomously.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to explain complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable acting as a bridge between Business, Risk, and IT teams.
• Collaborative mindset with strong influencing and facilitation capabilities.

Languages

• Fluent English is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of French and/or Dutch is required.
• Proficiency in both French and Dutch is considered a strong asset to facilitate collaboration with local stakeholders and ensure effective communication across the organization.
