Policy & Data Analyst (Data Scientist) - Hybrid

For an European institution in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking for a hybrid Policy & Data Analyst (Data Scientist). We are looking for a Policy & Data Analyst with a strong understanding of political and policy environments, combined with the ability to work with data to support decision-making. This role is ideal for profiles such as political scientists or policy specialists who are comfortable using data and visualisation tools to generate insights

Candidates need to be based in Europe within 2 hours of Brussels.

Candidates need to be fluent in English. A work permit is required, but not provided. This position is open for contractors.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Analyse policy-related data to support strategic decision-making;
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of policies using data-driven insights;
• Translate complex data into clear narratives tailored to policy and non-technical audiences;
• Develop and maintain simple dashboards and reports to monitor key indicators;
• Ensure that data analysis aligns with policy frameworks, governance standards, and institutional priorities;
• Engage with stakeholders to communicate findings and support evidence-based policy discussions;
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and capacity building across teams;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master degree;
• +6 years of IT experience;
• +3–5 years of professional experience in policy analysis, public sector, consulting, or similar environments;
• Strong background in political science, public policy, economics, or a related field;
• Experience working with policy frameworks, governance, or regulatory environments;
• Ability to analyse and interpret data in a policy context;
• Familiarity with data visualisation or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or similar);
• Good understanding of structured data and basic querying (e.g., SQL is a plus, not mandatory);
• Exposure to data analysis or business intelligence tools
• Experience working in international, governmental, or institutional contexts is a plus
• Familiarity with data-driven policy evaluation or impact assessment methodologies
• Exposure to data analysis or business intelligence tools
• Fluent in English;
