Software Engineer – Scientific Imaging & Advanced Visualization

Location: Mechelen, Belgium (On-site)

We are working with nn innovative and fast-growing deep-tech company active in advanced scientific imaging systems is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to strengthen its product development team in Mechelen, Belgium.

The company develops cutting-edge high-performance instruments used in research and industrial environments, with a strong focus on 3D imaging, visualization, and Algorithmic engineering.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, imaging science, and advanced hardware systems.

Your Role

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the development of advanced software solutions for high-performance scientific systems.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Designing and implementing software for instrument control, 3D reconstruction, image processing, and visualization
• Contributing to product development from concept through to system realization
• Developing new features and improving existing software capabilities
• Collaborating closely with engineers and technical specialists in a hands-on development environment
• Supporting software integration with complex hardware systems

This is a highly technical software engineering role focused on scientific and computational applications rather than enterprise or business software development.

Your Profile

They are looking for candidates with a strong technical interest and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges.

You may have:

• A degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or another relevant technical field
• Experience with software development in a Windows-based environment
• Strong programming in C++ and/or Python and problem-solving skills
• Interest or experience in areas such as 3D graphics, image processing and scientific computing
• Good communication skills and a good command of English
• The ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment
• A practical, hands-on mindset
