Context
We are looking for an experienced AI Innovation Coordinator to lead and structure AI and innovation initiatives across the organization.
The role sits at the intersection of business, IT, architecture, governance, and external partners, ensuring that AI initiatives are not only identified but also correctly evaluated, implemented, and brought to production.
You will report to the Head of Future Platforms and contribute to building reusable enterprise-wide AI capabilities, supporting both software development processes and business operations.
Mission
You will act as the central coordinator for all AI and innovation initiatives, ensuring alignment with business strategy, enterprise architecture, data platforms, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI & Innovation Coordination
- Coordinate AI initiatives across business, IT, architecture, and external partners
- Manage dependencies, risks, and escalations
- Ensure alignment across stakeholders
2. Use Case Intake & Prioritization
- Structure and assess AI use cases from business and IT
- Evaluate: Business value, Feasibility, Risks & compliance, Data requirements, Architectural impact
- Prepare prioritization for the Innovation Steering Committee
3. Technology Scouting & Assessment
- Identify and evaluate: AI platforms & LLM ecosystems, Agentic AI solutions, Data platforms and market trends
- Assess maturity, risks, and applicability
4. Platform, Tools & Setup Facilitation
- Ensure availability of the right: AI platforms, Data platforms, Integration components
- Cover aspects such as: Security, Access management, Logging & monitoring, Governance
5. Governance, Security & Compliance
- Define and enforce governance frameworks for AI initiatives
- Ensure compliance with: GDPR, NIS2, EU AI Act, Data governance standards
- Translate regulatory requirements into practical guidelines
6. Business Case Development
- Support creation of business cases for AI initiatives
- Analyse: Value & ROI, Costs & risks, Maturity & feasibility, Organizational and process impact
7. Architectural Alignment
- Ensure AI solutions fit within: Enterprise architecture, Data architecture, Solution architecture
- Validate integration with: Existing platforms, Data flows, Security models, Market processes
8. Reporting & Decision Support
- Report progress, risks, and impact to the Innovation Steering Committee
- Translate insights into clear decision proposals
9. Training, Awareness & Stakeholder Alignment
- Coordinate with internal and external SPOCs
- Organize: Training, Knowledge sharing, Awareness initiatives
- Promote responsible and effective use of AI
Position in Governance
You act as a central bridge between:
- Innovation Steering Committee (strategy & decisions)
- Internal teams (business, IT, architecture)
- External vendors and IT partners
- Governance, security & compliance functions
Core Experience
- Proven experience as Solution Architect (min. 8 years)
- Strong experience in the Belgian energy market (min. 5 years)
- Experience coordinating AI or innovation initiatives (min. 4 years)
- Experience in multi-stakeholder environments
Technical & Functional Expertise
- Strong understanding of: AI concepts (GenAI, LLMs, AI agents, agentic workflows)
- Data platforms and enterprise architecture
- Experience with: Architecture modeling (TOGAF, Archimate, UML, Sparx EA)
- Knowledge of: Belgian energy market processes (MIG/UMIG, DSO, TSO, BRP, etc.)
Governance & Compliance
- Experience with: GDPR, NIS2, EU AI Act, Security & data governance in AI context
Communication Skills
- Strong ability to translate technical complexity into business language
- Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills
Languages
- Fluent in Dutch or French (C1 level)
- Good knowledge of the second national language
Nice to Have
- Experience with: AI agents / agentic workflows, Enterprise AI platforms (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, etc.), Model benchmarking
- Training and change management initiatives
