Dev Engineer

Nexeo is looking for a Java Developer (Dev Engineer) to support one of its clients in the banking sector, a leading financial institution driving large-scale digital transformation across its customer channels and payment ecosystems.

Mission Context

You will join a highly visible Tribe responsible for all customer channels within the bank, acting as the main entry point for millions of users through digital platforms such as mobile and web applications.

Within the Cards squad, you will contribute to one of the most critical customer journeys: payment solutions across multiple channels and brands.

You will work in a full-stack Agile environment, contributing to both backend (Java/Spring) and frontend/mobile components, within a cross-functional squad delivering end-to-end features.

Function Description

As a Java Developer, you will be part of an Agile squad composed of internal and external team members, responsible for both Dev and Ops activities.

Your responsibilities include:

• Translate business and technical requirements into high-quality, maintainable code

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring

• Contribute to end-to-end feature development, including backend and collaboration on frontend/mobile integration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features in an Agile environment

• Work with external data sources and APIs (RESTful services)

• Ensure application performance, scalability, and responsiveness

• Apply software engineering best practices (clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns, refactoring)

• Identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and technical bottlenecks

• Participate in DevOps activities, including CI/CD pipeline setup and improvement

• Contribute to API automation testing as part of the development lifecycle

Language Requirements

• English: Strong working knowledge

• Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent experience

Required Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Java Developer in complex environments

Technical Skills

Mandatory:

• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Framework

• Experience with Maven, databases, and backend development

• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs (Swagger / YAML)

• Experience with Git (version control systems)

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or equivalent)

• Knowledge of static code analysis tools (SonarQube, Fortify, NexusIQ or similar)

Nice to have:

• Docker and containerization technologies

• Groovy scripting

• API automation testing frameworks
