Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes / Rancher)

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and resilient Kubernetes platforms. You will play a key role in managing complex, distributed environments across hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and evolve highly scalable Kubernetes platforms using SUSE Rancher as the central management layer
• Manage the full lifecycle of RKE/RKE2 clusters (provisioning, scaling, patching, upgrades) with near-zero downtime
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and implement GitOps workflows (GitLab, ArgoCD, Rancher Fleet)
• Monitor platform health using Prometheus and Grafana , troubleshoot complex containerized workloads
• Enforce security policies including RBAC, network policies, and container image scanning
• Optimize infrastructure by monitoring and tuning CPU, memory, and storage utilization
• Maintain clear technical documentation, including runbooks and architecture diagrams

What You Bring

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering
• 4+ years of experience managing production-grade Kubernetes environments , especially with SUSE Rancher
• Proven experience leading migration projects from legacy systems to containerized microservices architectures
• Strong expertise in managing multi-cluster Kubernetes environments via Rancher (UI/API)
• Experience with infrastructure automation using Ansible
• Deep knowledge of GitOps principles and deployment tools (GitLab, ArgoCD, Rancher Fleet)
• Advanced experience with Helm and managing both stateful and stateless workloads
• Strong background in monitoring & logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting
• Ability to troubleshoot across the full stack—from kernel-level issues to networking failures

Nice to Have

• Experience with Rancher Observability
• Knowledge of zero-trust security models , Pod Security, and governance
• Hands-on experience with CNI solutions (Calico, Cilium, Canal) and service mesh (Istio)
• Experience with CSI and storage solutions such as SUSE Longhorn
• Familiarity with hybrid environments across bare-metal, vSphere, Nutanix, AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving DevOps best practices
