Do you want to help shape the European operating environment for Finland’s most important export industry?

Technology Industries of Finland (TIF) works to ensure that Finnish technology companies have the right conditions to grow, innovate and succeed. To further strengthen our advocacy work at EU level, we are now looking for a Head of EU Affairs for our Brussels office .

In this role , you will monitor policy developments and legislative preparation in Brussels. As Head of EU Affairs, you will analyse and influence key political and regulatory initiatives of the EU institutions that are of strategic relevance to the technology industries. Your core areas of responsibility will be industrial, sustainability and employment policy.

The role also calls for an interest in and basic understanding of other strategic priorities relevant to the technology industries as the EU policy agenda evolves. These may include topics such as geopolitics and business resilience, which are becoming increasingly important both for companies and for Europe’s overall competitiveness.

You will coordinate our advocacy work in Brussels and support TIF’s different policy area experts in their EU advocacy activities. You will also organise meetings and other events with European Commission officials, Members of the European Parliament and other key stakeholders, as well as represent TIF in relevant hearings and other events in Brussels. You will work closely with our European umbrella organisations such as DIGITALEUROPE, Orgalim and Ceemet as well as with our Nordic partner organisations and the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK).

You will work in close collaboration with other experts in our Brussels office, our colleagues in the Helsinki office and our member companies. The role requires some travelling, mainly to Finland and other Nordic countries.

You will report to the Director of Public Affairs, based in Helsinki. The Public Affairs team ensures that our advocacy work in Finland and the EU is proactive, planned and systematic. Public Affairs is part of the Communications, Public Affairs and Member Services Unit of TIF.

Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in EU advocacy (minimum 7 years) and a relevant university-level degree.
  • A strong understanding of the European Union, its decision-making processes, institutions and key actors, and of how to influence them effectively.
  • The ability to quickly familiarise yourself with TIF’s policy positions on industrial, sustainability (energy, climate, circular economy, corporate due diligence, sustainability reporting, etc.) and employment policy, as well as with the EU initiatives most relevant to advocacy for the technology industries. Advocacy work is carried out in close cooperation with our policy area experts.
  • We particularly value understanding and expertise in modern advocacy communications. Excellent networking skills and extensive networks within the EU institutions, especially the European Commission and political groups in the European Parliament are a strong asset.
  • Coordination and project management skills related to advocacy work. A proactive, analytical and systematic working style, combined with strong problem‑solving skills, is an asset.
  • A team-player mindset and a proactive approach to supporting colleagues with your professional expertise.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills. French is an asset. Knowledge of Finnish, Swedish or other EU languages is a plus.
