Lead Knowledge Graph & AI Architect — Remote | $180k–$240k USD

We're partnering with a well-funded, profitable software company, established enterprise customer base, strong revenue, not burning VC runway, to find a Lead Knowledge Graph & AI Architect to own the design and delivery of their next-generation knowledge intelligence platform.

This is the kind of role that doesn't come up often. You'll be the person who decides how the system thinks, how disparate enterprise data gets unified, structured, and made queryable by AI at scale. It's greenfield at the architecture level, with real production stakes from day one.

If you've built knowledge systems that actually work in production (not just impressive demos), and you think at the level of trade-offs and system design rather than just implementation, this is worth your attention.

The problem you'll be solving

Enterprise AI is only as good as what it knows — and most companies have their knowledge scattered across dozens of disconnected systems, formats, and silos. Your job is to change that.

You’ll design and build a unified knowledge graph that draws from multiple data sources, normalises and fuses them intelligently, and powers RAG pipelines that return accurate, contextual answers at scale. You’ll own the full architecture: from ingestion and ontology design through to retrieval, reranking, and serving — and you’ll have the authority to make the calls that matter.

This isn't a team where good ideas get buried in PRD cycles. The iteration pace is fast, the team is small and senior, and the work ships.

What strong candidates will have

• Production AI experience — real systems, real scale, real users. R&D and POC experience alone won't be enough
• Knowledge graph or ontology expertise at an architectural level — Neo4j, RDF, OWL, SPARQL, or equivalent. You've designed the schema, not just queried it
• End-to-end ownership — you've taken a system from whiteboard to production, made the hard trade-offs, and can speak to why
• Data fusion or multi-source normalisation experience — a strong plus given the nature of the problem
• A fast-iteration mindset — this team moves quickly, validates constantly, and doesn't wait for perfect conditions
