ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Business/Functional Analyst within a financial services environment (Insurance or Banking), you serve as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams. You translate complex business needs into structured, actionable requirements — ensuring that solutions are aligned with both strategic intent and operational reality.
You are comfortable working in a bilingual (French/Dutch) environment, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and thriving in Agile project settings. You bring structure, analytical rigour, and strong interpersonal skills to every engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements through workshops, interviews, and process walkthroughs with business and technical stakeholders
- Model business processes using BPMN, UML, or equivalent notations, producing clear AS-IS and TO-BE process maps
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria consumable by development teams
- Act as the primary liaison between business owners, product managers, architects, and development squads throughout the project lifecycle
- Facilitate workshops, refinement sessions, and sprint reviews; ensure stakeholder alignment at key decision points
- Conduct gap analyses and feasibility assessments to evaluate solution options and their impact on existing processes
- Support UAT preparation and execution: define test scenarios, coordinate business testers, and track defect resolution
- Proactively manage scope, raise blockers, and ensure traceability between requirements and delivered features
- Contribute to continuous improvement of BA methodologies, templates, and best practices within the team
YOUR PROFILE
Experience & Domain
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, or equivalent role
- Proven track record in the Insurance and/or Banking sector (life, non-life, claims, compliance, payments, core banking, etc.)
- Hands-on experience translating regulatory or operational change initiatives into IT deliverables
Technical & Methodological Skills
- Proficiency in process modelling: BPMN 2.0 (Bizagi, Camunda, Visio) and/or UML (use cases, sequence, activity diagrams)
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology: sprint planning, backlog grooming, user stories, definition of done
- Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps)
- Ability to produce high-quality documentation: BRDs, functional specs, process maps, RACI matrices, test plans
Interpersonal & Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder management: ability to facilitate productive conversations at all levels, from operational teams to C-suite sponsors
- Assertive communicator capable of challenging assumptions, managing conflicting priorities, and building consensus
- Structured thinker with a hands-on, solution-oriented mindset
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
LANGUAGES
- French: native or bilingual proficiency
- Dutch: professional working proficiency (or vice versa — native Dutch with professional French)
- English: professional working proficiency (written and spoken) — mandatory for documentation and international stakeholders
LOCATION & AVAILABILITY
- Open to work in Brussels and the Brussels Capital Region
- Minimum 2 days per week on-site at the client location in Brussels; remaining days hybrid/remote
- Belgian driving licence
NICE TO HAVE
- CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA or equivalent BA certification
- Experience with SAFe or LeSS at programme level
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks: Solvency II, IFRS 17, MiFID II, DORA, PSD2
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (SQL, Power BI) to support functional investigations
- Experience in digital transformation or core system migration projects
