Senior Project Manager

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to drive multiple complex IT projects within a Life Information Systems environment, focusing on underwriting and claims management applications.


Context

The role sits within a large-scale application landscape supporting life insurance systems, involving mainframe-emulated environments (Cobol/Mix Cobol+.NET) and a diverse technology stack across frontend (.NET, CRM), integration, printing, and communication layers. The upcoming portfolio is heavily project-driven, requiring strong leadership and coordination across multiple teams and stakeholders.


Language Requirements

English: good proficiency (mandatory)

Dutch and/or French


Profile Requirements

Education

Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Sciences, or equivalent


Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in IT project management (application side)
  • Proven delivery of large projects (>1000 man-days)
  • Experience in insurance or financial services environments
  • Strong knowledge of Prince2 and waterfall methodologies (Agile/Scrum is a plus)
  • Experience in stakeholder management, budgeting, and governance setup
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish project governance (stakeholders, steering committees, communication plans)
  • Define and challenge business requirements with focus on value, cost, and timing balance
  • Coordinate architecture deliverables and planning with technical teams
  • Build project roadmap, budget, and work package breakdown structure
  • Monitor project progress across scope, timing, quality, and budget
  • Deliver structured reporting to stakeholders and senior management
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and mitigation actions
  • Drive cross-team collaboration and maintain team engagement
  • Ensure clear and continuous communication across all stakeholders
