Senior Accountant

Overview

We are currently supporting an international organisation in Antwerp in the appointment of a Senior Accountant. This is a key role within the finance function, offering high visibility and ownership across core accounting, reporting, and compliance activities.

The successful candidate will play a central role in the month-end close process, statutory reporting, and audit coordination, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors in a dynamic, international environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly close process, including payroll postings, accruals, and reconciliations
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with local GAAP and IFRS
• Deliver accurate and timely external financial reporting
• Manage VAT declarations and support corporate tax filings
• Prepare and submit corporate and statutory returns
• Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors
• Liaise with internal teams and external finance stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP requirements
• Support year-end close and audit processes
• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
• Operate effectively within Oracle ERP systems

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in a Senior Accountant or statutory reporting role
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP (US GAAP exposure is advantageous)
• Experience with European statutory and external reporting (French or Spanish GAAP is a plus)
• Solid understanding of VAT and tax compliance processes
• Experience working with external auditors and corporate stakeholders
• Strong systems skills, ideally including Oracle
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Fluent in English
• Able to work onsite in Antwerp three days per week
