Compliance Officer opportunity working with a rapidly growing specialty insurer where you will lead efforts to manage regulatory risk and shape key procedures that keep the business aligned with Board expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a transparent and ethical business culture with fair treatment of clients.
- Manage the relationship with Belgian regulators, minimizing regulatory risk.
- Provide balanced regulatory advice that considers commercial needs.
- Oversee communication and implementation of relevant regulatory requirements.
- Report compliance gaps and regulatory changes to senior management and the Board.
- Maintain clear records to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
- Monitor adherence to regulatory timelines and compliance actions.
- Gain Board approval for the annual compliance plan.
- Collaborate with Risk and Internal Audit to strengthen the three lines of defence.
- Recommend and support improvements to internal systems and controls.
- Ensure staff receive required compliance training (minimum 15 hours annually).
Key Skills and Experience:
- Certified Compliance Officer (Certificate);
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in English and in French/Dutch;
- Good working relationship with the Belgian regulators;
- At least 8 years of experience of working within insurance or financial sector companies in a legal/compliance role.
