Context 

Scope 3 emissions represent more than 70% of bpostgroup’s overall carbon footprint. Majority of scope 3 emissions is generated by our suppliers. bpostgroup has an SBTi validated target on scope 1&2 and has committed on scope 3 to reduce carbon emissions. You can help us realizing our carbon ambitions in scope 3.

Your Mission

As a project manager you will be responsible for the footprinting of key scope 3 subcategories of bpostgroup. In particular, this includes the subcategory of Purchased Goods and Services and Transport. You will help us to move away from using spend based calculations and theoretical assumptions to the collection and integration of more specific supplier data. You will be responsible to improve data accuracy in scope 3 by structurally driving the collection of supplier emission data and analyzing so bpostgroup can better document progress scope 3.

You will be part of the Center of Excellence in Procurement and get the support and mentoring you need to succeed. In your role you will be able to liaise with many stakeholders on all levels in the bpostgroup organization as procurement has a pivotal role in achieving these sustainability goals. As the role is focused on gathering and improving scope 3 emission data, this will be a great opportunity for you to enhance your interpersonal skills and cultivate effective communication abilities with internal and external stakeholders.

 

You have experience as a project manager, or at least the qualities needed to ensure you create accountability with all stakeholders, it will be your role to keep our project on track. You are a natural communicator, with an eye for detail. Experience in Sustainability is a plus but not a must.


Tasks

In your role you will :

  • Roll out a process and methodology to collect, analyze, and interpret carbon emission data providing a more accurate view on scope 3.
  • Calculate the carbon footprint on scope 3 and act as an internal stakeholder to the ESG Strategy team to ensure alignment in reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Implement an internal control system and validation on collected supplier data.
  • Based on the available data, you propose & implement a strategy and action plan to further improve scope 3 data accuracy and emissions to buyers and suppliers.
  • Evaluate and improve the way data are collected and calculated to future-proof bpost carbon footprinting.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders to gather operational insights, data inputs, understand (emerging) reporting requirements and clearly report back on complex data findings, progress and project risks.
  • Interact and build trust with suppliers to onboard them in the data collection, but also engage with suppliers towards emission reductions. 

Your profile

The ideal candidate has:

  • A master degree
  • at least a first working experience of 2-5 years sharpening your project management skills
  • experience in carbon calculation & management, and carbon reporting is an absolute advantage (but no must). Specifically knowledge on scope 3 supplier related data and management is valued as a plus.
  • great communication skills with the ability to engage and influence different type of stakeholders at different levels in the organization
  • strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify actionable insights
  • a very hands-on mentality, we believe this is very much needed to engage and interact with suppliers
  • collaborative attitude to work with various stakeholders in multidisciplinary areas
  • the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and at least Dutch or French
