Are you passionate about trading and energy? Do you possess strong negotiation and relationship-building skills? If so, we invite you to join our team as an Energy Portfolio Optimizer. This pivotal role is part of the Energy & Utilities team, embedded in the Business Unit Base Chemicals based in Mechelen (Belgium).
In this capacity, you will report to the Group Energy & Utilities Sourcing Manager and play a pivotal role in optimizing Borealis' comprehensive energy portfolio, including Power, Gas, CO2, and Green Certificates. Your responsibilities will involve developing innovative strategies to maximize asset value, hedging positions on the short- and medium-term horizon, and adhering to the company's risk strategy framework.
Your responsibilities include:
* Nominations - Manage and optimize the daily nomination process of physical power supply contracts, incl. intraday optimization
* Risk management - Manage & execute deals in power, gas, CO2 allowances & green power/CHP certificates, trading and hedging exposure with purchases/sales of financial swaps ensuring that the energy portfolio books remain in line with agreed risk mandates and strategy
* Flexibility - Proactively assess and implement demand-side management opportunities on an ongoing basis. Prepare business cases and implementation plans
* Projects - Support in the negotiation of (large) frame agreements for utilities or renewable energy projects in line with Borealis' strategy
* Tools & modelling - Asses the market trends and patterns to generate trading ideas, develop trading models and support tools with aim to optimize hedging and nominations strategies and exposure
* Market intelligence - Monitoring EU gas, power and CO2 emissions markets and other related commodities, analyzing technical and fundamental data and reporting on possible market development
