PLC Automation Engineer (Immediate Start!)

Join a leading automation consultancy that supports major pharmaceutical manufacturers across Belgium and Europe. Renowned for delivering complex PLC/SCADA, MES, and digital manufacturing projects, the company plays a key role in large-scale CAPEX and modernisation initiatives within regulated environments.


You’ll be embedded on-site with an innovative pharmaceutical client located in the Ghent region, contributing directly to the delivery of highly automated production systems.


Role: PLC Automation Engineer

As a PLC Automation Engineer, you will be a key contributor to automation project delivery throughout the full lifecycle. From design and programming to commissioning and validation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure GMP-compliant, reliable, and efficient production systems.


Key Responsibilities

🔹 PLC Programming & System Integration

  • Develop and modify PLC code (Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal required)
  • Work with SCADA, HMI, and industrial control systems (e.g., GE iFIX, Cimplicity)

🔹 Automation Project Support

  • Participate in design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and qualification activities
  • Troubleshoot automation issues to minimise downtime
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions

🔹 Regulated Environment Compliance

  • Ensure all work complies with GMP/cGMP standards
  • Generate technical documentation (URS, FDS, test protocols)
  • Support continuous improvement of control systems and processes


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor or Industrial Engineer in Automation, Electromechanics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on PLC automation experience
  • Strong Siemens Step7 & TIA Portal programming skills
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or process industry is highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of GE HPCI and/or GE Cimplicity is a strong plus
  • Experience with sequential control, control loops and/or troubleshooting is advantageous

Skills & Language

  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive mindset
  • Fluent Dutch (mandatory) + good English preferred
