Lead Engineer Electrical, Instrumentation

The department "Engineering Terminals and Backbones" is part of the Asset Delivery division of Fluxys Belgium and focusses on the design and engineering of large new-build or large modification projects (terminals and pipelines) for the energy transition.

The Department Engineering Terminals & Backbones at our head office in Brussels is looking for a Lead Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation (m/f/x).

Ensure an expert level of engineering knowledge in the domain of Electrical and Instrumentation engineering for large national and international construction projects. Deliver reliable, high-performance infrastructures aligned with standards for operational excellence. Leverage cutting-edge technologies and promote design standardization to drive efficiency and scalability. You will develop the framework in this field.

• You will be responsible for the timely realisation of the projects within budget and conform the rules and regulations
• You develop and maintain a high level of domain knowledge to ensure state-of-the-art design and technical solutions, considering technological advancements in the energy sector
• You define rules and set new standards for the engineering of electrical systems and instrumentation to guide FEED and EPC(M) contractors, ensuring coherent design principles that guarantee quality and safety in infrastructure projects
• You develop a competence centre and provide technical advice and assistance to ensure state-of-the-art technical support for large national and international infrastructure projects, including hydrogen and CO₂ transport systems
• You liaise with management, external stakeholders, and other organizational entities in your field of expertise to ensure good practices in the design and development of infrastructure projects
• You lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical and instrumentation systems for various infrastructure projects, including hydrogen and CO₂ pipelines
• You ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all electrical and instrumentation activities, particularly in the context of energy transition projects
• You provide guidance and support to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• You collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical and instrumentation solutions into overall project plans, ensuring alignment with Fluxys' strategic goals
• You develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, manuals, and reports, to support the successful execution and maintenance of infrastructure projects

• You have a master's degree in electrical/instrumentation engineering. Knowledge of automation would be an asset.
• You have minimum 10 years of experience in providing technical advice in support of national or international projects, the capabilities to prepare and/or critically evaluate technical documents such as FEED files, specifications, bids and designs
• You are able to decide in a complex and changing environment
• You can work autonomously and demonstrate responsiveness and adaptation to a highly demanding and international and complex environment
• You have strong interpersonal and communication skills enabling to evolve in a multicultural environment coping with cultural differences
• You can express yourself fluently in Dutch, French and English
