Policy Adviser (Transport, Energy, Climate, Sustainability)

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Policy Adviser to join our team and lead the work of our Transport, Energy and Climate Committee. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping and communicating the views of US business on a wide range of EU policy initiatives related to sustainability, energy transition, climate neutrality and transport decarbonisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and communicating the views of US business on a wide range of sustainability policy issues. The Policy Adviser is responsible for the day-to-day management of AmCham EU committees, which bring together business professionals from our member companies. He/she acts as a focal point for all related strategy and advocacy activities. Reports directly to the Senior Policy Director and works in close coordination with the team.


Main tasks:

  • Coordinate and manage the work of the Transport, Energy and Climate Committee;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key EU and US policymakers, stakeholders and industry stakeholders;
  • Monitor and analyse relevant legislative and regulatory developments;
  • Draft and oversee the production of policy papers, consultation responses and advocacy materials;
  • Provide strategic guidance to members and contribute to the development of advocacy positions;
  • Work collaboratively across teams;
  • Organise and support meetings, briefings, delegations and public events.


Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of EU policy-making, with a focus on sustainability, energy, climate and transport policy;
  • Work experience and demonstrated interest in European and international affairs;
  • Strategic foresight and highly developed networking skills;
  • University degree in European affairs, trade, politics, foreign affairs and/or international relations;
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills and diplomacy;
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast-paced team environment;
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills;
  • Computer literacy (particularly Microsoft Office including Teams and CRM);
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.

Languages: Fluent English (both written and spoken); another EU language an advantage
